score!

The weekend's thrift-store shopping brought a rare and coveted find: a vintage leather knockoff Eames lounge chair with ottoman (not pictured) for $60. Plus $2 suitcase with spotless interior. Sean carried the chair on his head. Through the fields, in victory. *L

So that's what the kids are calling it these days…

Ladies, our first guest post. Let the people speak. * k

This is actual photo advertising from the side of the TriMet MAX light-rail in P-town (This sighting was on the Red Line at the Airport). I’m sure that the concept looked innocuous on the marketing storyboard, but it took a bit of a turn once they applied the photos to the rail cars. One can only assume that the maintenance crews got a bigger kick out of it than the commuters… Apparently word leaked to TriMet soon after and the “jacking point” decals mysteriously disappeared.

I like BIG TRUCKS

...and I cannot lie. Such low hanging fruit on my walk home from work lately. I was just astounded at this; its mystic proportions and unnecessary capacity. Like something spoken about but rarely seen, an urban giant squid. Behold. *k

Trouts Unlimited

Today i received a mug from my boss. He has the same mug and is a big fan of fishing. I caught a trout last summer and took out its heart and explained to everyone why the heart was still beating even though it was cut out of the body and then i showed them all the other organs and then i cleaned trouty out and then we ate it and it was delicious. I think this mug is beautiful and i don't even normally like the color blue. Reach for the stars, trouty. Just like me. J.

movies

Consider this the second installment of my Friday YouTube treat. Now, I don't really want to post a big-budget movie trailer, but Robert Downey Jr.... you'll see. *L

memories

This really does look like it's "covered with giant babies." I remember sharing your annoyance with Mike's exaggeration, J, when we were actually there. But it was dark.
I found the picture on someone's flckr page, but it seems appropriate, given the multitude of babies friends are having these days. Just found out that my former roomies Jackie and Paul have conceived! And Ylva named her baby finally, Alf, after her grandfather. I'm guessing it doesn't have the same '80s sitcom connotations in Sweden. *L
