Argh. Yep, those apostrophe things can go anywhere just plop 'em (see!) in and that's (ha) that. Like the scarf of grammar. Actually, no. I doubt you made the huge freaking bumper sticker that advertises your disdain for subtlety and grammar- but you did put it on your car, so you're guilty. Also, I don't know why, but I am dying to see your hair and make you use peruse in a sentence.

Last full day of Bush! Here's a guide to my walk filled weekend. Not really. But I do love long walks, partly for what you see and would likely miss otherwise. Danny spotted this apartment building on a walk in se portland. There was a reasonably cute 1 bedroom available, if you can get past the name. Ack worse than PIN number...





paulrus is dead tags are everywhere in portland, everywhere and with the same message. I remember seeing earlier versions asking where is paulrus or whatsa paulrus or something. Well, apparently it's dead now- part of beatles mythology or so I've heard. do you know about this?
for some reason it reminds me of neckface being everywhere in ny a few years back. -k

I was scooting in the Pearl section of Portland when I saw this sign. Imagine a smaller Soho: ganz commercial based on shopping, everything is new, with the requisite galleries and occasional interesting stuff sprinkled in. I was in the area scoping dog care options for Forrest and Luke while we're in Ely, MN learning about black bears. Although, I suspect these dogs would be very popular with bears, for like two minutes.

The sign helped me see the parking spot, so thanks job done!
Dedicated scooter/'cycle parking is great, it really saves space (as you park perpendiucular to the curb) and me from dirty looks when I take a car space.

Parade

We walked around today and were headed home after I essentially handed Danny my queen during lunch. On the way we encountered a parade for the Syttende Mai celebration hosted by Grieg Lodge, Portland's chapter of the Sons of Norway. The sun was absolutely blazing with temperatures in the high 90s. Wilt. I was just excited to be out walking. Earlier in the week, I had bizarrely smashed the tops of BOTH of my feet in separate incidents and was unable to wear real shoes. (you cannot make that up)





It was great to see these folks celebrating and enjoying the heat; their real shoes transmitting the pavement's intensity. The best part was the tiny lady sandwiched between her car and a police motorcycle shouting, "Go Norway!" She was, near as I could tell, the parade's lone intentional attendant.

This is actual photo advertising from the side of the TriMet MAX light-rail in P-town (This sighting was on the Red Line at the Airport). I’m sure that the concept looked innocuous on the marketing storyboard, but it took a bit of a turn once they applied the photos to the rail cars. One can only assume that the maintenance crews got a bigger kick out of it than the commuters… Apparently word leaked to TriMet soon after and the “jacking point” decals mysteriously disappeared.

...and I cannot lie. Such low hanging fruit on my walk home from work lately. I was just astounded at this; its mystic proportions and unnecessary capacity. Like something spoken about but rarely seen, an urban giant squid. Behold. *k
